My name is Sheri Bashlor, and I am in the Education Specialist Degree program in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began the program Summer 2015 and will graduate Fall 2016. I graduated from Valdosta State University in 2006 with a BacheIor's degree in Early Childhood Education and in 2007 with a Master's degree in Interrelated Special Education/Early Childhood. Immediately after graduation, I began teaching first grade at Blackshear Elementary School in Pierce County. After three years of teaching first grade, I moved to Midway Elementary School to teach Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.). Midway opened in 2010, and I spent six years of my career there. I enjoyed being a part of the rare experience of opening a brand, new school. I have now transitioned to teaching in two new avenues, high school and special education in Wayne County. I am also currently pursuing my Teacher Leadership Endorsement through the University of Georgia.
I currently teach ACCESS III at Wayne County High School, which is a new program in the Wayne County School District. My classroom is a self-contained, special-education setting, where the focus is on transitioning students from high school into the workforce. Technology is valued in my classroom; we focus on using it in real-world applications in order to create lifelong learners and use assistive technology to increase communication and functional capabilities. I also love spreading my knowledge of different types of instructional technology through the Techknowledgy Tour, alongside my collaborative tech partner. Our focus is to increase teacher knowledge and comfort levels in using technology more seamlessly in the classroom setting. KSU's reputation in instructional technology led me to the Education Specialist Degree program in Instructional Technology. I plan to continue with my education by pursuing my Doctoral Degree in Instructional Technology at KSU as well.
The purpose of this portfolio is for me to demonstrate mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards and the ISTE NETS-C standards. As you can see, there are a series of links below the KSU logo that you can visit. Of particular importance is the "standards" link. Under this link, you will see a series of artifacts and reflections documenting the important work I have completed during this program. Each artifact represents mastery of the standard under which it is represented.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Kennesaw State University; I feel that I am well-prepared to integrate technology into my classroom and to assist other educators in using technology and providing professional learning opportunities for them.
