Throughout this course, I have learned information that has encouraged me on my journey to establishing a leadership role in technology. My foundation of knowledge was enriched through weekly modules, reading assignments, videos, and an Engaged Learning Project. Because I learned how to recognize present and missing Indicators of Engaged Learning as well as identify the Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi) embedded within lessons, I now feel more prepared in becoming a technology coach. I also became familiar with PSC and ISTE standards, both in which broadened my understanding of teacher and student expectations in the field of technology.
The Indicators for Engaged Learning as well as the LoTi were perhaps two of the most beneficial topics I learned about while in this class; it was through both of these tools I was able to assess my current teaching, identify what needed to be changed, and improve my daily lessons and overall units. These tools provided a way for me to make my lessons more engaging, while motivating students during the entirety of the learning process. Overall, I learned how to create a digital learning environment for my students.
The Engaged Learning Project I created was a huge part of my learning experience in this class as well. During this project, I increased my knowledge in creating an authentic learning environment for students that promotes higher-order thinking skills. Creating an instructional design that facilitates the use of digital tools is essential in the 21st-century classroom. This field experience was definitely a positive one in which I learned a lot.
